Anyone else have had this problem. Tried to search and found nothing
I have meth/headers/supercharger went through all the wiring for meth and everything is in place and good. My speedo and gauge just shut on and off while driving at random times. Can't figure it out and don't know what to do? Scared to take it to dealer I don't want them messing with my tune and aftermarket stuff I have on
I know you're hesitant to take it to your dealer, but if you decide that's the route you'd like to take, please don't hesitate to send us a private message!
We can work alongside your dealer to ensure this is properly addressed.
Not sure what you mean by Speedo and Gauge? Is it only one gauge or all of them? Does the HUD speed disappear as well? If it doesn't the problem is probably in the gauge cluster since they both work off the same signal from the ECM.

It's the 4 gauges around the screen and the screen itself. It's weird cause if I'm cruising normal it will rarely do it but as soon as I hit wide open throttle for 5 seconds and let off it will start doing it it will like blink on and off and my gauges go to zero screen goes black then start back up like 20 times I don't have hUD option on mine so i wouldn't know if that shuts off too.
The driver display and the center multi function display went black a few thousand miles ago. Just before the displayed information was all incorrect. The shut down lasted about thirty seconds, when the display returned all the information was correct. Like the computer rebooted. Has not happened since.
My 2014 did this a few weeks ago while driving to work. I work midnight shift so yeah...that was fun having that happen in complete darkness. When it came back all of my DIC settings had reset to factory.
I've been through the car to check all the grounds multiple times since and haven't found the root cause yet. Gotta love electronics.

Found this ground not plugged in anyone know if this effects the dash or what it's for and where does it screw in
There is a ground sense wire that attaches to the battery ground. It was broken when I took delivery of my car and I kept getting intermittent battery charge warnings. Once the dealer mechanic fixed the wire the battery warnings went away. I don't know if you are pointing out the same wire or not but I would expect that it would be if you haven't installed any aftermarket electronics in the car.
As for your display the gauge data comes from the ECM across a serial data line. If the line/wire has an intermittent connection the gauges would act unusual but the problem could be due to a similar problem in the instrument cluster. When you had your mods done did somebody remove the connectors from the ECM. If they did the problem may be there. It doesn't take too much to get a pushed pin when reconnecting those connectors and you could get an intermittent condition there.
I experienced something similar after installing headers, the main connector harness (pass side) didn't click in all the way when I put it back together and the car wouldn't start after it was shut off.
Any help is appreciated cluster goes out radio ac and also hud my car is out of warranty so looking to see if I can maybe solve this issue before I take it in to dealership.

I know this an old thread my 2014 did the exact same thing last week. Complete black out of all gauges, analog & digital plus HUD - all turned off for about 3 minutes, then came back as if something just rebooted which required resetting things like Link-To-Drive mode. Lucky it happened during the day because at night it would have been spooky. I blame sun spots.... or aliens
My 2016 Z06 did it for a while. It took quite some time to find it, but it ended up being a bad alternator. It was overcharging and sending the car into elec fits.
