How I did mine was I mounted it on the wall and got the extra long extension cable and I connect to the car via a magnet connection.

https://hethelsport.com/tools/charger-connection-kit/

You mount the car connection side under the front bumper, run the wire to the 12V power cable on the fuse box and ground the other wire to the chasse ground. Then simply connect the other side to the charger cable. Just simply connect the tow under the bumper when you want to put the charger on the car. It connects via a magnetic connection.

Work amazingly well.

The CTEK instructions say to connect the car first and then connect to AC. I suspect that is a standard safety recommendation to reduce the chance of somebody electrocuting themselves. However, if the unit is working safely it probably doesn't make any difference in which order the unit is connected to the car.

I have been using this set up for years on my C6 and now my C7. Never had any problems at all.

Yep. Reverse order for unplugging.

If the charger is plugged in to the wall outlet, but not the car, it's possible that you can get a spark when plugging it into the car. That *could* lead to frying something on the car. Very unlikely, but possible. Same reason you remove the ground wire first when disconnecting the battery, and attach the positive wire first when reconnecting.

I had the system on my C6 and I moved it to my C7 and I think it's the perfect CTEK connection. Mine is on the front of my car and if I forget to disconnect, it just drops off from the magnetic connection. You never close the trunk on the wire nor leave the window down a crack to get the CTEK hooked up. I even put one on my wife's Toyota.

I agree, Another part of the safety theme. Another issue with having a spark in that area is the battery is right next to the charging port and hydrogen gas could build up in that area which could be set off by a spark.

With the magnetic connection, I leave the C-tek plugged in all the time and just slap the connector on when I park the car. Been doing it that way for 14 years and no problems.
