I just read in my owners manual that OnStar can't track a stolen vehicle unless it has had an ignition cycle in the past five days!! So if I'm storing the car for the winter I have to start it every week to keep it secure? That just doesn't sound very practical to me. Am I reading this wrong?
I believe you have it correct. I remember when I had OnStar that I could not connect to the car after a week or or so of the car just sitting there. If I recall correctly, opening the door would wake up the computer so it could connect again. I don't think you needed to start it.

Thanks I was kinda hoping that I had it wrong.Iwonder who came up with that bright idea?
How many Corvettes are stolen and then how many are stolen from a storage location? You may be worrying about something that occurs much less often than Hillary winning an election in the last 8 years. However, if it is stolen just ask OnStar to start the car and that will get you a start so you have a new 5 day time period. Might be interesting to be a crook with the car in a shop somewhere when the engine suddenly starts.

You're probably right, It's in a locked garage and I have security cameras, plus the car has a good alarm system. and there's always insurance.
