The Z51 and GS have lower gearing in rear diff. That's why they have faster 0-60 and worse fuel mileage. The GS has wider tires which is supposed to result in faster 0-60, but that probably depends on some other factors.

A couple times in the past I had 4.2 seconds with some wheel spin.

Last night it was 60F out and the car was running good. Did some long fish tail burnouts in 2nd leaving stop lights, etc. So I thought good time to try the 0-60.

Well first launch I had some minor spin and wheel hop and got a 4.6. Second time less wheel hop and got a 4.9. What gives?

Hey guys in general do remember that mag test include rollout on 0-60, our PDR systems do not. In RWD big HP that rollout is going be at least .1 probably .2-.3. So if you hit a 3.5 its probably 3.3ish by traditional testing equipment. Also if your going to go out and really try for a good 60 try and get tires warm and probably drop the PSI down a little in your tires.
Using LC in track/sport1 I consistently get 3.4-3.5 on MPSS tires. When I put on my cups I get 3.2-3.3. I need to try aggressively rolling into the throtte more as I have heard that can net the best times.

Brenny, you lost me? You are getting 3.4-3.5 on MPSS. And 3.2's on Cup's??? What are you running, and do you have any proof>>>

At the drag strip a few weeks ago. Stock tires. Decent burnout. 1/4 mile time 11.138 @ 125mph

Nice run. What what your PDR 1/4 mile time? I'm just curious how close it was to your actual time.

That's pretty darn close. I've seen a few others that were further apart. I need to get to the drag strip soon!

Hello. Mine is 2017 GS with A8.
I was launching with traction control off and not using launch control.
Elevation is 2400 feet and road surface is rough.
What bothered me is why it went to 4.9 on the second launch?

I suppose lower elevation helps.

I suppose lower elevation helps.
I got a 4.8 yesterday with traction control on, and again, not even trying (wasn't even WOT). That's with the stock tires and a 'decent' road surface.

I really want to give it a real attempt, but I just don't have a good place without taking it to the track.

If I can pull off a 4.5 (like I did a couple weeks back with cold tires) without giving it my best attempt, it seems that 3.9 should be possible...assuming the dash timer is accurate.

I haven't tried launch control yet, traction control was left on, and my times were EASILY attainable without even going wide open throttle. You should try it with all the nannies enabled and see what time you get.

Yeah, I will keep messing with it. I had 4.2 when it was cold and not trying hard and getting lots of spin so I thought 4.0 or less would come easily, but the harder I try it seems to get worse.

try lowering your tire pressure in the rear to about 28 psi cold. On the street I would keep practicing with the launch control you'll be able to get much more consistency. I like track and sport 1 for the street. I find on the street trying to launch with TC off and a high rpm (like 2400) just ends up with too much tire spin.

Anyone with their own tuning software or those who have altered their rear rire heights without re-tuning can trick the 0-60 MPH timed readings to read whatever they want them to --I simply changed my stock tire height to read 29.50" and I clicked off an amazing 0-60 time of 3.0 !!!
---So when people post sub 4 second times on a stock C7 auto I would want them to take a poly graph test !! LOL
