So.....Decided to skip the Z51 or Bilstein HD shock options for
my base car. Already put Z51 sway bars on. Daily driver plus
autocross once a month in Las Vegas option. Any users of either?
I've installed the Z51 sway bars and rear shocks on my 17 base Stingray.
It still wallows around in the rear too much IMHO.
If I decide to keep it, I may spring for something more track oriented as far as the shocks.
For a daily though it's very nice.

your springs are to soft, your bushing are to soft as well. These need to up graded if you want less wallow in the turns.
I have heard several times here that the spring rate is very similar between base and Z51.
I will get the firmer bushings if I get the Z51 sway bar package but I think I want to try a shock upgrade first. I'm ok with the body roll and steering feel but would like more sophisticated damping i.e. Less harsh at slow speed and more control and supple at higher on rough roads around here. That is what JOC shocks purport but don't know how Konis compare.

Z51 non mag ride rear spring is 165 n/mm. The base ray is 153 n/mm.......that's a lot, the 07 package uses 177 n/mm in the rear for reference. Chevy uses soft springs in the rear to make the ride feel softer, this where you get most of the feel of body roll since you are sitting with your back on the rear wheels.

So....The base rear springs rates are 873# and Z51 942#. I would
say that's not real soft! C6 is about 650# in the rear. Seems like
asking for a good ride and also controlling these springs is asking
too much!

you can not compare the c6 with the c7. Different mounting points mean different required spring rates. Ask the z06 and gs if their cars ride is to harsh.

Just had Bilstein HDs installed. Got the best of both worlds!

dampers do not hold up the car. The grip of the tires sets the spring rates, the spring rates set the dampers. Just putting parts on a car is not a good path IMO.

Sorry, still works great with the Z51 bars! Autocross next month will
verify one way or the other. I expect to stay with the C7 Z51s with
no problem. Yes shocks do matter. I trust Bilstein engineers over Chevy engineers to set the valving for their shocks.

You could be right. However they ride real nice as opposed to what I have
heard on the forum regarding the Z51s. Then again what I feel is a nice
ride may be rough to others.
