Default Help with drag set up

I have 20x12 rears and drag radials for that size are hard to come by and are very expensive. I'm just getting in to the drag scene and want to get in as inexpensive as possible until I know if I'm going to like it. What size rims and tires are some of ya'll running. Can you drop down to an 18 size wheel and if so what size DR do you run. Thanks for any help?

I run Racestar Darkstar wheels. They are 18x10.5 and run a Hoosier Dr2's 315/30/18. They work great and the rims are real light. Since it sounds like you have a Z06 based on the 20x12 wheel you can run a wider rim and tire. probably 18x13 or 18x12 and fit up to a 345 or 335 tire.

If you are going to only use the DR set up for the track only you don't want a 13 inch tire and rim just for that.

Get a 18 inch rim no more than a 10.5 max 11 inch rim with the correct offset for the car, and put a max of a 315 DR tire on it and call it a day. Robert

Why would you want to run a skinnier tire in the rear than stock? This doesn't make sense to me. If he has the Z06 wider body, run a 12" wheel so its the same offset and width as the stock wheels.

I can get a set of Nitto DR's 305-40-18 with a c5 18x10 inch rim for $450, would that do the trick or no?

I know for a fact the wider the rim some times is not always the best in a car. Just some times rwhp to the tire set up on the car means more. I can tell you in the c5 a MT 275x55x15 non dot tire really hooked a 1200 rwhp car up better than any tires bigger than that sizes.

This stuff is just is just try and error type of thing. Plus when you r step the car up in rwhp what did work really good before does not work for crap now on the car.

My above statement is why now and in the past all these guy had a ton of fast good parts for sale over in the c5 section. Reason why they bought really good stuff put it on the car and it just didn't work at all. They pull it off sold it r put it up for sale because of that reason but never tell anyone it didn't work. Just going a diff way now on the car.

Let say this the more side wall you have on the tire that tire should be hooking better for you. So I would look at a 18 inch rear plus less weight on the rim also. Hoosier & M&H rear tire hooked better for me that a MT DR on the track. But loved the 275 non dot tire.. Robert
