Default C7 Metal Key

I recently lost one of my original FOB's including the metal key. I popped open the one I had, got the code-P/N and found it on one of the auction sites for a reasonable price. Took it to my Stealer and paid him about $50 to program it to match my car/other fob. Neither he nor 6 other Central Florida Chevy dealer claims they have the capability to cut the metal key. Not that it's absolutely necessary but I'd like to have an extra complete fob. Anyone know where I can get this done? I'm thinking a certified locksmith "might" but I doubt they'll have the blank that'll snap into the fob. Suggestions???

Wow, It's the same blank as most newer chevy GM vehicles.

If they can cut them for a Tahoe, Cruze, or Cadillac they should be able cut one for a Corvette.

The Chevy Dealer here in Cornfield County cut one for me from the Vin number.

I'm about as far back in the sticks as you can get.

If you get a blank off flea-bay make sure its for the right year. I bought one thinking they were the same but the one
I needed is offset from the center of the handle. When cut it would open the car but it wont fit right in the fob.

Good luck

As I recall, there were two different blanks on Flea-bay. There was the "Cadillac" part number that is a direct plug in to the fob - has that metal "T" at the top that locks into the FOB. Then there is one that gets pinned and is not a direct GM part number. Hope you got the first and not the second.

It is that they could not cut you a key. They did not want to cut the blank you supplied! They wanted you to buy their blank at full GM retail. Any GM dealer can cut a blank from the VIN if your provide proof of ownership. I know the Chevy dealer in New Smyrna Beach will cut one for you as a shop I used locked the fob in the hatch and they had to pay them to cut one from the VIN as they were locked out. But of course they supplied the blank.

I went to the local lock smith in Winter Garden and they cut it. But I had to pay him my right nut to do it - like $50.

You are not close but I would think any good lock smith coule duplicate it. Now if you don't have the other key for them to duplicate it from, then the stealership is your only alternative.

Tell your dealer they can order them from GM already cut if they didn't buy the key cutting machine for those.
