I haven't had that problem. I've read about quite a few weird one off events with the electronics on this car though. If it keeps happening and you're still under warranty, bring it in.

Infotainment center
Everything in the infotainment center froze today. Everything working fine, tried to make iphone call -appleplay? it appeared to be stuck in the phone. Unplugged phone, tried all buttons on infocenter- nothing worked? Radio would not play, Nav was not working, could not get system to even shut down? got home, shut engine off. a few minutes later started engine. Everything seems to be working again??

My 2015 blanked the screen for ~30 sec. on one occasion, then recovered without a restart. The dealer did a software update and it didn't blank again while I owned it (traded after two years), so you might check with the dealer. PI1375B covered this issue but it dates back to Feb. 2015, so I would think a 2016 C7 would've already had that update installed.

Think of it as a computer of sorts and ALL computers need to be shut down and restarted from time to time for what ever reason and they go on working for years. Think of it as a reboot. Of course it if happens a lot there would be reason for concern.
