OnStar question
Purchased a new 2016 Stingray 1LT in December. I'm coming to the end of my full-service OnStar. I've heard that if I don't renew my subscription, I won't have compass or correct time. Is this true?

NO. Somebody is feeding you a line of BS. If you decide to renew you don't have to go with the directions plan. You can go with the Protection Plan which is about $50 per year lower and qualifies you for an insurance discount if you let the insurance company have access to the vehicle mileage records from OnStar. I have the Protection Plan on my 15Z, 15 Terrain and my 03 Tahoe.

Thanks. Sadly I only have 950 miles on the car. Life has kind of gotten in the way of my driving it. I use my phone for navigation, so I haven't used OnStar once. I was just told that without their most expensive plan, I would lose my compass and clock on my screen. I thought that sounded strange.

You will still have the compass and clock, although you may have to set the clock manually and change it for daylight savings time. I don't have Nav or Onstar and that's what I notice. You will still have key fob services for 5 years from the Chevy app on your smart phone.

There's an option to have the car set the clock from your BT connected phone. That way the clock is always accurate, and will always change for daylight savings time.
