My 2017 Z06 was upgraded with Kooks headers, Haltech cold air intake and we added boost via a Vengeance racing upper blower pulley. The car's dyno indicates 626 RWHP and 686 RW torque. The problem is that now I get an error message when I go full acceleration under 4,000 RPM"s in gears 3-7 and the engine kills the power. The error message says "Reduced Engine Performance- "Reduce Clutch Use". I can also feel the clutch engaging when I accelerate. What in my tune could be wrong?
What do you mean by clutch engaging while you are accelerating? If your foot is off the clutch pedal there shouldn't be any engagement since it is already engaged. Are you feeling slip instead. Maybe you are trying to put too much torque through the clutch.
My wild guesses:
(1) I think the clutch pedal sensor is engaged, and the car cuts power thinking you're pressing the clutch pedal. It might be as simple as a clutch pedal adjustment; one would hope..
(2) Is there a temp sensor for the clutch? If it's slipping for any reason, it would quickly overheat. Speaking of which, wrong pedal adjustment might cause it to slip, too. There needs to be a little bit of a slack when the clutch pedal is not engaged.
I am afraid there may be too much torque with nearly 690 ft lbs at the rear wheel. Thoughts? Foot is certainly not on the clutch and performance is fine if I run it hard with RPm's above 5,000 in each gear. Problem exists if I accelerate abruptly at low RPM in any gear other than 1st.
And yes, clutch seems to be slipping. I mistakenly said engaging. The car has only 6,000 miles and no sighn of clutch issues until the performance work was done and immediately I had the problem.
I've got similar power and mods, 660s RWHP and 690 RWT, and similar miles on my 17 M7 Z06. I also drive it quite hard, and have been to a few track days, road course mostly, but I've been to a 1/2 mile runway shoot, MANNY passes...
No issues with clutch so far, maybe in the way you launch, do you ride it???
