I just finished installing a MGW short throw shifter in my 2016 C7. Feels good but it is raining and I did not get to try it out. Will do in the morning. After a he install my check engine light has come on. Any thoughts on that??
My CEL was also on when I first drove the car after installation. I'm guessing that disconnecting the wires probably caused it because the CEL went off after a couple drives.

Thanks. That makes me feel better. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow. Will report back.
After 2 starts CEL was NOT on. And yes I love it. What a different Much more fun to drive and my first to second shift is greatly improved. Thanks for the tip.

Others have reported that if you power up the car with the mode selector (and maybe other things) disconnected, it can set a check engine light.
I installed my shifter and never got a light.
I also went with Core Shifters modified Hurst, and it is as good as any I have driven. Had it in my C5, and transferred it to the C7.
I really don't want to read another thread about how nice the MGW shifter. "Oh, this shifter is so nice!" "Everyone should get one of these!" Well, when I bought the car, my wife said that if I get a stick she won't be able to drive it, and having replaced three clutches in a VW she used to drive, I believe her.
Well, we bought an A8 in April and how many times has she driven it? Once! One time, the day after we brought it home, and basically because I forced her to. Once! That's it, that's all. Once, and maybe never again. She says it's easier for me to drive her.
So, have fun with your shifter and have pity on those of us who have the A8 when they wanted the M7.

Same thing happened to me once. Bought an auto (Vette #1, on #5 now) so the wife could drive it. Drove it like two times. I hated that slush-box that was in that C4.
MGW is great, as everyone else says. I thought installation was a PITA, but that's just me When I went to Ron Fellows, I thought the car was broken at first... then realized it just had a stock shifter!
Not much. That is more a transmission issue than a shifter issue.
It helped mine a little. While cold I just shift from first to third. After it warms up it seems ok. At some point I am going to change the trans fluid to synthetic. They say it helps a lot.
