I have a 2001 C5 MN6 Z51 and have been contemplating a C7. Was *just* thinking of finding a slightly used C7 A8 Z51... and adding a blower (and maybe some other minor mods). Wanted to use it as a daily driver, but hoping for about 600 RWHP. CA car so I have to pass the carbon **** inspections. A few questions:
1. Do-able? I just want to pump gas, change oil, and drive it.
2. Which supercharger? Why?
3. What other mods should I consider?
4. Can the A8 handle the torque? I will drop the hammer from time to time (e.g. every time I get on the freeway )
It will do about 180 now, you need to go faster? It will do the quarter now in around 12, with a blower around 11, are the freeways that competitive where you are? Get a used Z06 and the problem is solved and you can still pass smog.

Edelbrock and A&A are going to be your top choices for Cali emissions. I have owned both. Either can be set it and forget it options as far as very low maintenance. I like the centri setups for room to grow down the road because I am a hp junkie. That said fit and finish and being as close as you can get to a factory setup you can't beat the Edelbrock. As a example I had a magnacharger (very similar to the edelbrock) on a truck that I put 130k miles on without any issues and virtually maintainence free.
A Zo6 will have better resale value, be more reliable and less headaches in the long and short run. They can be had fairly cheap even now on the used market.
It doesn't cost much to add a blower. I did A&A, meth, tune, for about $5,500. Was lucky and got a good deal and installed everything myself. You wouldn't notice a difference from stock except for the BOV noise until you nail it. Tremendous difference in power from stock. The only downside was losing a bit of highway mileage from DOD being turned off due to tune. Sure a Z is an incredible car but I can't really afford the extra $30K.
