And you can also lock the exhaust into track mode, go into vehicle settings/engine sound management and choose track and the NPP exhaust will stay set to track regardless of driver mode. I leave my exhaust set to track and steering set to sport.
Cadillac does some weird stuff too, when I set my 2014 ATS to snow mode it defaults back to tour mode upon restart but it will stay in sport mode. It was a little exciting when I discovered this because I had been compensating for the slow throttle progression of snow mode on a slushy day and when I started again after filling up I did a near 180 leaving the fuel station.

Do you get the loud cold-start when the exhaust mode is set to Track in the preferences and left there (as opposed to Link to Drive Mode being left in Track, which resets to Tour)?

Yes! Last summer while staying in Townsend TN there was a motorcycle club from Canada staying at the same hotel. I remote started my Z06 one morning after I forgot to turn the engine sound management back to tour (I try to be quiet at hotels in the morning). One of the bikers starting laughing and said his Harley parked near my Z06 just pissed itself
At home the cold start bark rattles my garage door.
paging through all the business when i am sitting at the burnout box makes for a lot of frustration and easy mistakes. enough other stuff going on
About the only way I know to avoid the issue is to get into the habit of starting the engine, selecting the drive mode and then fastening your seat belt/harnesses. I have noticed that sometimes the selection won't reset if the driver accidentally stalls the engine and restarts it right away. Maybe, there is a way to expand that characteristic to more than an engine stall.
