Default LT1 Cam Choices

So doing a Cam swap, and coming from 16 years of cammed LS cars..

there is not a lot of choices in Gen V LT1/LT4 cams.

Vengeance has a few
TSP has a few,
MTI has a few.
BTR has only 3 stage 1, 2, and a a blower only one. I am trying to find more info on the stage 2 currently.

But man its is hard to find video and detailed info on them...

So anyone have some recommendations. I want it to cut up pretty good, I understand it will not be perfect below 1500 rpms in high gear. I mean I have been Daily Driving a larger cammed LS car for 16 years, everything from 417 stroker LS3, to a heads/cam/blower LS6, 431 LS7, ect... always with a manual. So I am accustomed to some rowdiness.

Had a Vengeance VRX5 in a bolt on LS2 for years. as well, I thought it drove well.

So leaning to the TSP3, or Vengeance stage 3 cam, but I don't know specs on the vengeance one.. also a MTI V3 or V2 again no specs.

SO any have something close in a C7 want to chime in?

There's also a Chevy Performance hot cam.

Check Lingenfelter & Livernois, too.

I have a VR stage 2 cam in mine. Its very streetable, but sounds good. If you want a LOT of chop, go with stage 3.

So I have been told ot take a hard look at the BTR Gen V Stage 2 Cam

WOrks with boost later and is there biggest NA cam at the moment. But is still good manners. only 4.5 degrees of over lap.

227/242 .637/.626 @ 115+6

I cant find a single video of the damn thing let alone dynos or anything else. Just that BTR says it picked up 71hp.

COMP has 4 camshafts available that retain AFM & VVT, if you care.

My current Cam options I am looking at:

Vengence Stage 3 (I have relative numbers here but no specs)
BTR Stage 2 - 227/242 .637/.626 @ 115+6 (4.5 Overlap)
TSP Stage 3 - 235/239 .645/.645 @116 (5.0 Overlap)

Looking for good chop, decent power, and a decent driver. I say that but Ihave been Daily driving a Cammed, Heads cam, Stroker, heads cam supercharged, something LS 6speed for 16 years... so my tolerance is probably a little above the average corvette owner. But I also don't want to ruin my new C7 ha.

Some stage 3's are big chop, sometimes enough that they can stall out at stoplights. But im sure you know that already lol

yea I really hate the whole stage # crap. I mean I get why but come feel like such a ricer oooohhhhh I am getting a stage 2 cam! haha

I did finally find a fourm member on youtube, and then linked him back to here, with the BTR Stage2 in his LT4 car. SO hopefully he can answer some questions on it.

From the 2 convos I had with BTR (1st made me want to slap the guy on the phone) second with a guy named Nick. It sounds like this cam is very drivable, and still makes good power. and form the ONE video I can find it hit s lick pretty good too.

There is a YouTube video posted in Camaro6 with the GM hot Cam. It has a pretty good chop. Much more than the Hot Cam GM sells for the C4, C5 and C6. Personally, I won't go over .600" lift to make it easier on the valve train. The Hot Cam lift is .577".

I had the Lingenfelter GT11 in my C6. The lift was .631"/.644 and springs needed replacement after 25,000 miles. If course duration has an impact as the GT11 had a relatively short duration. Cam made good power with an almost stock idle.

Call and talk to VR about the stage 3. Things may have changed (mine is a 14), but a couple years ago when I wanted the stage 3 in mine it didn't have enough clearance and I have the stage 2 and am very happy with it. At that time they were only doing the stage 3 in the LT4. I had originally intended on staying NA and that's why I wanted the 3 as I did heads at the same time as well.

I talk with Brian a few weeks ago on this cam, Told me excellent auto car cam really good for a street car also with stock converter. Plus will pick up 70 plus RWHP to 100 rwhp just up with a good tuner.

well I think this is what I am going to pull the trigger on the BTR Stage 2 NA/Blower Cam.

Will be going in a 2014, M7 Z51. So we will see.

AFE intake, Kooks long tubes Kooks off road X, factory NPP muffs.

hoping it gets its over 500rwhp, good lope at idle, and drives decent.
