My '14 C7 overheated after a 90 mile drive then while stuck in traffic, coolant reservoir crack leaving Coolant all over the road. Dealer replaced the reservoir as "root cause" say everything else checked out.
Picked it up driving home same 90 miles all good, get close to home stuck in traffic due to an wreak ahead, 5-10 minutes the temp gauge raised from 200ish to 240ish, pulled over killed the engine for a a few minutes drove home with the temp back to normal temp....
Worried as this is not normal! Contacting my service rep today anyone experience this?
Thx gents, I drove all summer in Texas heat w/ no issues, I'm thinking when the dealer installed the new coolant reservoir maybe they didn't get all of the air out of it. I'll check to see that the fans come on as they are suppose to and check for any fluid minor leaks.

This may be your problem jack the front end of the car up just a little. Then pull the cap off the reservoir start the car turn on the AC let it run until you see coolant moving thur the system. Then keep feeling it up until you cant no more that should do it.
This is what I had to do from a shop when they said I was good to go. Plus I was told they used a machine to pull all the air from my system. Robert
The C7 two-speed cooling fan operation is triggered by a number of conditions (engine coolant temperature, A/C pressure, transmission oil temperature and engine oil temperature). In the case of engine coolant, low speed is programmed to start at approx. 204 degrees and high speed at temperatures above 235 degrees. Low speed will also run for no more than two minutes after the engine is shut off if the coolant temperature at that time is greater than 235 degrees (the fan will also run after the engine is shut off if the A/C pressure is greater than 249 psi).
