Default Emissions code after installing borla 60547

I had a local corvette shop install my Borla 60547 pipes which does away with the secondary cats. Now I get a code indicating emissions are now a problem. On a thread last year, it was stated there would be not problems installing these pipes, it indicated no problems if the pipes are properly installed. Is there a step in the install that would correct this problem? Maybe sensors going to the secondary cats that was not taken care of?

Subscribed. Thinking about the Borla x pipe. Understood the secondary cats were unmonitored.

Hello. We are sorry to hear about your issue. Part number 60547 should NOT throw a code when installed and there are no special installation steps that you need to take. Please give our customer service department a call at 1-877-462-6752(Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm PST). Thank you!

when i installed the borla catless x pipe on my car the stabilitrak light turned on immediately. had to drive 20 miles or so before the light cleared. possibly due to the front converters not getting hot enough? do a search. i believe a few others have had a check engine light or
stabilitrak light turn on after installation.

Find a new shop

There should be no code.

The rear cats are behind the o2's and are not even monitored...

Regards
Chip

Maybe a sensor went bad for one reason or another or the wires to a sensor developed a problem, just a thought. I would hold on to your factory X-pipe just in case you may want to re-install it down the road like I did.

PS: I have installed an aftermarket X- pipe in the past (removed it later, lost performance, Corsa 3") with no problems from the get-go.

Are the sensors unplugged for the swap? Maybe not plugged in all the way or a pin pushed back in the plug?

No, they don't need to be touched but you never know what has been done unless you watched.

Its impossible that is related to the X*pipe itself, cats arent monitored. I would suspect more the install, or like orthers said, drive it for a while and if it disappear!
Never had a code with mine, but i understand you a have 2017 right?

For what it's worth. When I installed mine 1 yr. ago, shortly after I got an emissions code also. Crawled back under there & noticed soot marks around one of the clamps just fwd. of muffler. The code indicated exhaust leak & after tightening crap out of all clamps, lite never came back. Look under car (won't have to jack) for black soot marks like we get on outer tail pipes. I even had marks on concrete garage floor. Could be any of the connection points including leak at gaskets at front of X pipe where the 4 bolts attach. There is a metallic gasket seal at this point that could have been damaged.
