Another E85 enquiry
I have searched the forum archives but the answer to my questions is allusive.
1) what is the horsepower benefit, if any, for a NA stock LT1
2) for a modified ( cam, heads, headers and intake manifold ) NA LT1 does the benefit, if any, increase

I cannot speak to the specific numbers, but I think its important to talk about the benefit depending on the engine parameters.
E85 is 85% ETOh - ethanol, and 15% gasoline. It improves cold start light-off with the regular petrol content.
The octane rating from a knock resistance perspective is above 106, some say about 108. That does not include the evaporative benefits that a Port fuel injection system would see, but obviously that is not us unless we are spraying it in, say, a chemical intercooling process.
The Lt1 is above 11:1 compression. It is my hunch that we are driving aroun with 91 octane in what is essentially a compromised state, timing wise, as the ECU will take off some timing consistently because of the constant low level detonation of the 91 octane.
Therefore, with no other systemic modifications other than a tune, e85 would probably result in a 10% increase in power. Most importantly, you are lengthening the life of your motor if push it because of the lower stress the now NOT detonating motor will be under.
Add in a force induction scenario and the limits are raised quite a bit.
93 octane and above would have better knock resistance but at higher IAT, it would benefit as well.

Keep searching. There are a couple of threads of full bolt on C7s using E85. I think it is worth 20-25hp but don't quote me, you can search for actual results. Try using the google search feature with the right keywords , I've found that to be quicker at times.
