Default Z07 Rotor Question

I'm looking at a Z07 Grand Sport. One of the rotors has a mark on it unlike the other three. The dealer is telling me it's normal. Since I don't know much about these brakes thought I'd ask for input. Thoughts from those with CCB experience?

Well I only have 3k miles on my car, but I don't see that on my rotors.

I have two cars with CCB and no it's not normal (got to love dealers). Something hard got stuck between pads and rotor. Having said that unless that line is deep it's not a big deal as carbon rotors do not wear out the same as steel they more or less evaporate from the inside. Personally I would be asking to reduce the price of the car by $1500 which is the rough price of a rotor (just the part no labor) I think that's normal to discount or fix the damage no matter how minor it is. I hope this helps and good luck.

I agree that is inconsequential. More than likely road debris that got caught between the pad and rotor scuffed the rotor. What you have to look out for is chips on the edge of the rotor (as shown in one of the classes at Spring Mountain), pock marking due to heavy usage that roughens the rotor to the point it starts eating pads, or some deep grooves that can appear on both sides of the rotor near the point where the rotor ring fastens to the rotor hat.

I had something like that show up on a couple of my carbon rotors when the car was only a few weeks old. It disappeared within a few thousand miles

Thanks all. Sounds like as long as it's not a gouge, it's not something to be concerned with.
