Can someone please help me with what floor jack to buy for changing oil on a C7? I also have a friend with a lift and could use a suggestion on the best place to get the pucks I've heard about for lifting a C7.
This has probably been asked before, but I couldn't find the information after searching the form.
Low profile two ton Harbor Freight is what I use. More money but lower profile, longer reach, higher lift, and foot pedal to use if the jack is so far under the car you can't raise the handle.
I use the plastic leave in pucks and have never had a problem. There have been a report or two on this forum of them breaking though.
I use low profile ramps under the front of the car and jack up the rear until the car is level. I haven't measured but a fair amount more oil runs out when the car is level. Otherwise I would just run the car up on ramps like I do on my other vehicles. I also have a QuickJack but it takes longer to set up for a simple oil change.

Thats a nice jack, I’ve got the regular one and it wasn’t low enough to reach my Nissan 350Z jack points so I got a set of wheel dollys. https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-hy...yABEgI10fD_BwE this allowed me to get the car high enough to fit the jack under it. Nice thing about the dolly is you can just roll the wheel away from the car once secured on jack stands. No more lifting heavy wheel / tire combinations. Also since you can spin the wheels aligning the studs is a piece of cake. While I got it for my car it really helps with my truck as those tires are not fun to deal with. It too has a foot pump which seems faster then a jack handle.
Has anyone used a 2x6 and then used the cross beams to jack front and rear vs left and right side? Seems less stressful on the car to do front and rear.
Also cant find the jack with the foot pedal at HFT.

Foot pedal? That sounds very nice and I'd never seen one at HF. Regardless, I have the HF 3T low profile. I don't use it often, but when I do, it's 100%. I went cheap on pucks and bought 4 x real hockey pucks and put in 1/2" eye hole screws. 15bucks. Looks like HF jacks are popular on the forum.
I have both of the HF jacks listed. The 1.5 ton aluminum and the 2 ton steel one. I take the 1.5 ton to the track since it is so light and doesn't take much space. I only use the 2 ton when I am working on the car in my shop where I have more room. The 1.5 ton will lift the entire front, rear or one full side at a time without issues and fits under my stage 1 aero. I think for the money you just can't beat it.
I will add that the 2 ton model has the jack release as a turn **** on the end of the handle. I am more fond of turning the entire handle since sometimes I want to let the jack down a bit to reposition and I can't reach the end of the handle and still see the jack point. Another reason the 1.5 ton is better.
I have the 2-ton, low-profile, extended reach jack mentioned several times earlier (#68050) that I've found to be excellent for any task I've thrown at it. Unfortunately I don't see it on the HFT site anymore. If no longer available I can say that I'm glad I have one in hand.
I bought a Harbor Freight low profile 3-ton floor jack a couple moths ago. It’s great since I work on several vehicles and the low profile pad works perfectly with jacking pucks. Part number 62326 on their website.
For me the Daytona wasnt worth an extra $100 to get the foot pedal and 4 more inches. The 20" lift will get my GMC Sierra tires off the ground and thats plenty for me personally.
For those of you who like the aluminum jack, it is on sale right now from HF. Here is the coupon. Just print it and let them scan the code or punch in the numbers and you will get this price. In my opinion this is one of the best all around options for our cars. I might go get a second one.
