I recently had this service performed at my local dealer to address torque converter shudder. My question is this: Approximately how many miles would you expect the technician to put on your car while performing this service?
I thought there were an excessive amount in my case. Enough to warrant a conversation with the Service Manager who said that it seemed reasonable. I've read the TSB, and frankly don't agree. It was my first trip to this dealer as I am a new owner. I am trying to find a reliable dealer to build a relationship with, but this was a red flag to me. Maybe I am just being a little paranoid but I'd be very grateful if some of you in this forum might give me an idea of what you think is reasonable.
All you'll get here are OPINIONS not based on any absolute tech or service manual references. One tech may just drive it 5 miles on a highway to get to speed & get it into ECO mode to check for recurrence of shudder. Another might feel 50 miles of combination city/hwy driving to ensure it's better. They want to TRY & make sure it's fixed so you are happy. Let us know if you feel the shudder is better/gone.
It's two runs at less than 10 mph for 10 minutes on the hoist, so that's 3.3 miles minimum. Plus a test drive for 2-3 miles afterward, so I say about 7 would be reasonable.

Not starting something, but inquiring minds want to know where you got this info. Thanks

So how many miles did they put on your car?
I had the triple flush done about a year ago.
The tech needs to take the car to a location where it can be run at a steady speed to feel for vibration.
I have also had the check engine light start flashing a couple times. Second time was today after a hard acceleration (and a backfire). My traction control button is also stuck in the down position, which they have ordered a new one. I bought this 2016 z51 about a month ago and I have about 6 more weeks of factory warranty left. Guess I will give these guys the benefit of the doubt for now because I need to get these issues resolved and this dealer is very convenient and been around a long time. Hoping to get everything ironed out before then. Thanks.
Might be time to contact Dennis Fichtner about a GM extended warranty. IIRC, they have a 30day/1k miles waiting period before coverage kicks in, so buy a bit early.
Your powertrain warranty runs longer, but there's lots of non-powertrain stuff on the car to go bad.
