Car is at the dealer getting the magnetic ride update and a telescoping wheel actuator replaced and an oil change. They noticed the dry sump hose dented.
I purchased my car pre-owned... does anyone know how the heck something like this can happen?
I don't know what caused it. Maybe the PO had headers and had to tie the line out of the way. It is kinked and should be replaced.
As far as I know, the car is bone stock, and has been bone stock. I don't have physical access to my car at the moment, but is this hose in range of getting kinked by someone trying to do an oil change?
It's easy to do, if the tech is not careful they can hold it by mistake and bend it.
makes me wonder how this happened and if it was caused by the dealer. I’ve driven around for ~700 miles before taking it to the dealer before they noticed this. (I bought the car this month and the Car was originally in the dealer to fix the telescoping wheel) It’s possible the last owner drove around like this for a while if it was actually kinked prior.
any reason why a tech would hold this hose? Is it easily in reach when doing an oil change?
I'm out of bumper to bumper and dealer says I'm also not covered under powertrain warranty. Still super puzzled on how the hell this happened and who's to blame. Meanwhile, I'm going to be out ~$500 to fix this.
My guess is that came from the factory like that, or something on the road hit it and it kinked as it was bent back. These hoses are not touched during an oil change.
