Ok, I'll keep this short and sweet. The wife and I were out driving tonight and I put the engine in ECO mode and after a short while the engine started to make a collapsed lifter noise and skip.
I put it back in touring mode and the skip never went away. Sounds like one of the DOD lifters went bad or something.
I had an appointment Monday for the last of the free oil changes. So i guess ill have to leave it there.
Does anyone know if this Is this a common problem?
Beautiful GS! I assume the "Check Engine" light is on? Remember that ANY persistent misfire will set ODB2 misfire flag and trigger the light. So if the light's not on, it's not actually missing. Still likely a DOD lifter or actuator though.
I wonder if it's running on 7? The ECU should flag that though!

Yes. its definitely running on less than 8 cylinders.
I stopped over at the local Chevy dealer here in town, Judd Kuhn Chevy, and Carla the service advisor told me to bring it right over. They got it right in and apart.... its a lifter on the left side. Carla texted me pics and updates.
So far I'm very impressed with the service here at Judd Kuhn Chevy. I didn't buy it here, we just moved here, and I've never been in for service before.
I was a gm tech for many years in the 80's and 90's and my wife was a service writer for 15 years at Chevy, and Toyota before becoming the GM of a Toyota dealer for the last 20 years.
My buddy sent me the bulletin 15-06-01-002g ..... noisy lifter.... not sure if it had the code po300 stored, I haven't had a chance to talk with the tech yet.
I'm hoping they replace all 8 lifters with the redesigned ones and not just 1 or 4

Have 4000 on my 19 and haven't turned on DOD yet. Now I am really scared to do it.
You might be ok if the newest lifter fixes the problem.
I'm not sure how old the latest part number is but I read somewhere that there was a revision/update/part number in 2017 but I'm not sure when.
There have been several part number changes over the years.
My car was made 2nd week of January 2017 so I don't know what revision lifters are in it but I'm thinking I don't have the latest version.
Now I will on one side at least.
All this DOD/AFM garbage is because the federal government is squeezing the auto industry to get better gas mileage.
They should let the market decide if we want to buy cars that get 15 mpg or 40 mpg. If no one buys cars that get less than 40 mpg, then guess what...... they wont make any.
It doesn't do **** at highway speeds anyway it only really helps at medium speeds, 45 mph or so.
