Hey Jason, I've searched this myself in the past. (regional forum)
Some suggest the dealership in Libertyville. One post mentioned
a tech by the name of Kevin Paddock at that location. Others have
used service depts closer to Chicago. If that's your choice I'd stay
with the high volume sellers. I live about 15 min south of you.
(Beach Park) We cruise up through Carol Beach / harbor area all
the time, normally stop at Pets or Ives Grove for a cold beer. It's
been a long winter. I'll be waking my yellow beast in a couple of
weeks.
Thanks, I forgot about Libertyville Chevy. I entered their show a couple times. You’re more than welcome to meet up with us when we go to SuperCar Saturday. I’ve had my car aligned at the dealership in Hales Corners but it just doesn’t feel right when the rear hits bumps, kinda like it’s not planted.
Wow, Kevin is still around? Great to hear. I lived in Libertyville in the late 90's and Kevin did outstanding work on my C4 at the time. I miss having a top-tier Vette tech ... those in StL are marginal at best.
It's hard to find a dealer or independent shop that has the special tools to measure and adjust the rear caster on a C7. Getting the rest of the alignment done correctly is easier but not guaranteed.
We've been using Martin Chevrolet in Crystal Lake, IL, Corvette tech is Paul Baumgartner. They have all the tools and he's careful with the cars. He'll use any specs you want, if they are possible with your particular car.
