Vibration and rattle issue
Hey peeps,
Posting this question for a friend. Car is a 2014 non-Z51 Stingray. +50k miles. Auto A6.
He's noticing intermittent vibration and rattling. The conditions are:
-happens at ~2500rpm
-happens with the car stopped
-happens during driving
-burning rubber smell also occurs
I've only experienced it once with the limited time I was with him the other day. I made it happen revving to 4-5k in park and it would violently rattle from the driver's footwell area when the revs drop to ~2500. It didn't happen again repeating the same thing.
My initial thought is something exhaust related is loose. We haven't had a chance to get the car in the air to check it out.
Just looking for some things to look for.

It sounds like it could be a bearing in the Torque Tube. I have a friend that had that happen to his 2014 a few months ago. It turned out that one of the bearings moved out of place.

Just to update this, you were right, it was the bearing in the torque tube. We got it up on a lift and pulled an inspection cover, the bearing was just bouncing the fudge around...
Ended up replacing the whole tube.
