Since the GS and ZO6 have wheel issues, I figure that if on is going to change, you may as well look at diameter at the same time.
I am considering both a 18/19 and a 19/19 ( F/R) option.
I plan on using non run flat tires. The non run flats have worked for me in other applications.
Intended application is spirited street performance, not drag race performance.
And things that I should be aware of while looking at wheels and tires?
Just switched from 19/20 to 18/19 on my Z51. Now have better tire selection and the ride quality has improved. I was never a fan of these stiff, low profile run-flats to start with. The main things you have to watch is brake clearance and the having the correct offsets.

Whats the best way to check that and find if a set of wheels will fit?
I would contact the vendor of the wheels you are interested in and confirm the have the proper fitment. Or see if anyone on this forum has a similar setup.
If staying with the same width wheel you want very similar offsets to the factory. For example on my Z51 the factory offsets are 56 mm front and 79 mm rear. My aftermarket wheels are 50 mm front and 75 mm rear. This results in my wheels moving out (wider) by .25" (6 mm) and .16" (4 mm) which was not a problem at all. Due to the spoke and barrel design of various wheels its often hard to tell if the brake caliper will clear unless you have a template. Even something as small as the stick on weights they add to balance your tires might cause interference if downsizing to 18"s up front. However many here have done it so many combinations are confirmed to work.
For the record I'm running AR924 "Crossfires" 18x8.5 front and 19x10 rear with Bridgestone Potenza S007A 265/35-18 and 305/30-19 tires...
Fitment is perfect, setup is FLUSH with fenders. Car is lowered on stock bolts, down about 1/2" from factory not rubbing in street use, yet to track it with this combination.
I run 19x8.5 in the front and 19x11 in the rear on my Stingray. Looks great, drives great. The only reason I’d go to an 18” up front is if you were doing the road course a lot. Otherwise I’d stick with the 19/19 set up IMO.
I'm running 18 x10 front and 18 x12 rear FORGEDLINE wheels on my Z06 with carbon ceramic brakes. Tight but they clear. With R888R tires ride is better, handling and traction far superior to MPSS. Probably last only 4,000 miles but on a weekend warrior, who cares?
