Default Reduced engine power notice

I had something weird happen to me this weekend. I got in my Z to go for a ride and everything started fine. Shortly after I started the car I burped the throttle slightly and it the car went straight to 3,000 rpm or so for a few seconds. I'm not sure how it went back to idle because I was in shock at the time. Once at idle I noticed that the check engine light and the Reduced Engine Power notification was on. I tried turning the car on and off multiple times but nothing helped. Finally I unplugged the battery for a minute and everything seemed to go back to normal and no other incidents. Does anyone know what happened or did I do something i wasn't suppose to? LOL

I believe I would take that to the dealer. If it did that on the road it would be "bad". This is drive by wire.

Get an OBD reader or take it to the dealer and see if it threw a code.
That should shed some light on it.

The last time I got this message it was a simple throttle controller connection. OBD reader saved a ton of diagnosis time.

You cant it is the black plastic piece on the side of the T.B. more than not you just hit ONE of those crazy spots in the T.B. that made it go in to leap mode. IF THE CAR DOES THIS the only thing you can do is let the pcm reboot r unhook the batt like you did, ARE if the c7 is like the c5 & c6 you can in those cars reboot it by the buttons on the dash but it is like restart then hit 3 r more buttons in the c6 & c5 cars..

If your car is 100% stock get the dealer to read the code on it... Robert
