Check fuse # 25 "Instrument Cluster HUD" in the front fuse panel. This is the fuse # for 2014 - may change a bit from year to year - check fuse schedule in your manual or on the fuse box lid.
If the fuse is good, disconnect the negative battery cable for 30 min to reset computer modules. You'll need to reindex windows.
Thx ,.give it a try .Maybe I'll be lucky on Father's Day .
Ron,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you .Fuse ,etc fine. Car sat for 4 days before going to dealer this morning.
Started it to take it there & dash came alive .Tech could find nothing other than a software update which he did.
Doesn't give me a warm ,fuzzy feeling . Reminds me of the C5 (column lock days ) before the fix . Every start up was an adventure.
Will it or won't it ?
Thanks again

Reason: typo
No problem. Remember that these cars are really computer networks on wheels. They occasionally don't boot properly and need a reboot or a reset (disconnect battery). Glitches do happen occasionally. The best advice is to replace your battery at the first sign of weakness or glitches.

There was a column lock bypass module for the C5. I put that in mine and never had an issue.
Now, the first year M6 C6 had that problem in spades, which I did have to deal with and fix. Don't get me started..... So glad the M7 C7 doesn't have a column lock mechanism.
