I wipe my tail pipes with a microfiber cloth with a squirt of window cleaner on it. it keeps them sparkling clean. I do it every few days.
I use wheel cleaner on the exhaust tips and a wheel brush. I just clean them when I clean the wheels. This keeps them nice and shiny every wash. Then every 2-3 months I polish them up with some Blue Magic Wheel polish that is made for stainless steel/polished aluminum. Regular wheel mag polish didn't seem to clean them up very well so after trying a few brands I landed on Blue Magic and it works nicely.
I cleaned mine with some Ceramic stove top cleaner. Bottle says good for all metals as well as the stove top. I then coated the exhaust tips & perforated areas further inside the tip with a Ceramic Rim Coat I had left over for my wheels & calipers. I wipe the pipes after every daily drive, takes very little time to do and keeps the carbon from building up to the point that it is a bear to clean..
