Default eBay X-Pipe Report

A couple of weeks ago I purchased this x-pipe from ebay, while I was pretty happy with the sound from my NPP exhaust I longed for the crackle and pop of my C6 when coasting down through the gears. It had an SLP LoudMouth 2 Exhaust System.

The packaging was minimal, the x-pipe was contained in a plastic bag dropped in a box, but arrived undamaged and overall quality appears good. Installation was straight forward but I did have to expand the outlets slightly to get them to fit over the rear pipes. The pipe angles on the x-pipe are not perfectly aligned with the rear pipes so it took some effort to get them seated but in the end there were no leaks. Since I only had about 5000 miles on the C7 I reused the flange gaskets without issue.

So did it accomplish the desired result? No it didn't, there might be a slight increase in deceleration crackle and pop but it's minimal at best. It did increase the acceleration sound by maybe 20% but this wasn't really my goal. I am aware tuning can richen up the mixture to accomplish the desired result but I'm not interested is voiding the warranty so it is what it is for now.

I just wanted to share my results with those who also miss the crackle and pop of previous vettes.

Regards

That X pipe has resonators on it. That will tone down some of what you were looking for.

LT direct injection motors will not POP and crackle like the LS motors ... its the nature of the beast . If you try and do it in the tune you will be running to rich ....

I am very happy with the increase in sound with my catless x pipe

Don't like the resonators also. Defeats the purpose

How would this compare to the Borla piece, for example? I'd love to make my GS note a bit deeper and louder, without spending 3k on headers or 1500 on another NPP setup

I too just got this X pipe, 217.00 was a bargain, I questioned the quality based on the price but was very pleasantly satisfied with it, ceramic coated nice quality piping and shipped the same in a plastic bag in a box, but perfect condition. I am looking for a throaty sound that my stock GS A8 is lacking, soon to find out as I will be installing it this weekend.

Sry you did not get the results you were looking for. I hope for a 20% in acceleration noise though.

Thanks for your review.

These resonators don't make a difference -- All of the cheaper X pipes are the same exact model (made in same factory -- top speed, manzo, etc). Resonators are straight through and quite short -- Only enough to cut the edge off rasp really.

Overall the Xpipe doesn't make a huge difference -- You'll have to go with headers for the pop/raw sound you are looking for.

Still a great bargain! In the end its the same pipe as the Borla for a lot cheaper.

I has nothing to do with the nature of the beast. It is mostly tuned out from the factory but can be added back in with HP Tuners. It's pretty easy to do on the new LTx stuff.
