Default Bad steering sensor? Random cel light...

I know its a camaro, but been at this for weeks and its driving me nuts, and camaro forum dosent really ever respond i posted there to.. This forum tends to be better about responding

I'm wondering if i jacked something up installing my headers. To make it easier to install i removed steering wheel shaft. Well after i was done, it drove fine for like a ocuple weeks. but now.. i get random flashing cel light. Originally i thought this was misfires (car has been professionally tuned). But its sporadic, not a consistent flash. Almost like a neutral wire shorted out to a light bulb. no codes when i checked.

It will flash, stay solid, blink. go out stay solid, flash. etc. Sometimes flash comes on so quick it barely illuminates.

What makes me suspect steering sensor, is when you turn left around a corner, light will actually stay on, not flash or blink but on through the whole turn, then when straighten out, go away. When you hit a bump, light flickers. Its random, on hard acceleration sometimes it flickers some times it don't. 3000 rpm sometimes it will flash like crazy sometimes don't. Seems like bad sensor to me.

Mean while car drives fine, no noticeable loss of power while this is happening

Has this happened to anyone?

Yes, i've posted there to. But the responses on that forum... go unanswered sadly. Always get better responses here, and since most of camaro ss built same as corvette, feel it still applys. And i been desperate for weeks trying to troubleshoot with no other evidence to go on other then cel ight on during turns. the turning left is the only consistent time it stays on, but never leaves behind codes.

Do you have a code reader? a P0300 code is a random misfire. A cel can be set when you get a random and a specific misfire. That would be aP030X with X being the misfiring cylinder number. If the misfire occurs then goes away, after a number of cycles with no misfires, it can go out.

Lots of people have had loose plug wires from the factory, and even though loose will fire the spark plug. That would be an easy check. However reading the codes is first.

There is a TSB out about misfires and it states that misfires can be caused by drivetrain vibrations. Though steering is not technically in the drivetrain, who knows what vibration will excite another component.

No codes... and it does it worse now then what the video shows. The thing is no loss in power or drivability. As much as it does it would have to show at least a p300. It does it instill randomly but all the way till I stop and car idles and turn off. So shouldnt be enough cycles to erase. Plus it never goes solid. Always goes out. I really feel like it's not misfire. It's mostly prominent with bumps.. vibrations and turns.

I took it to dealership yesterday cause I been trying to figure it out for about a month now. So hoping they can shed some light. I'm an engineer for a living and troubleshooting is in my blood so I'm actually ashamed to hand it over but ugh... just had it. Lol

Wasnt misfiring at all!! Harness that leads to cabin was just barely touching headers. Just better secured it away from there and no more blinky blinky. Thanks.
