Default Mag Ride working?

Got a 19 Grandsport LT2...
I typically drive in Sport mode
When i'm approaching one the many shitty road sections in and around Boston I select tour to get a less harsh ride
But I really can't notice any difference.
Is there a way to check if it's functioning or driving exercises that would indicate the difference?

Any input appreciated
Thank you

I’ve justed paid dealer to calibrate a new suspension/ride control module hoping to get a better ride on my 17 GS/LT2. I still do not notice a difference. Their techn stated, I will only notice a difference on the track. I wish I’d had a better way to verify the calibration was completed instead of a receipt.

I’m sure you seen this already...please disregard the highlights. I’m having the same issue noticing MRC too.

Try comparing track and tour modes. I expect you will notice a difference.

There is a huge difference between all modes unless the streets are smooth flat.

the more you drive the car and more you notice the differences, they are immediately and obvious to me on my Z51. The difference between Tour and Track is massive. If you have steering linked to drive mode it enhances the differences in the suspension feel too.

I have 11,000 miles on the car and have not "felt" a difference.
I guess I asking if it softens up
Is there is certain process or driving test I can perform to see if it makes a difference

Thanks

I can tell the difference readily on decent road when shifting from tour to sport. The ride is less harsh, and the cornering feels much flatter. It’s almost like going from sports car mode to SUV mode when shifting to tour. Also taking speed bumps is much easier in Tour mode.

My car is a 2019 Z51 M7 vert with 4K miles (delivered in late Sep 2018).

We went from a C6 Z51 (no mag ride) to a C7 Z51 2017 (with mag ride).
Initially, I was hugely disappointed. The three modes were Stiff, Stiffer, and Brutal. Not much difference between them.
Then we got the ~$350 mag ride update from the dealer. Track is still Brutal, but Tour and Sport are distinctly softer and yet handling seems better also.

There was a difference between the GS/Z06/base models, in which year the improvements became standard. Your dealer should be able to tell you if there is an update for your car.

And be sure your car actually has the Mag Ride, the center **** doesn't exactly shout out the information.

If you're expecting it to start sponging up bumps like a luxury car, that's not how it works. Tour is still sports car firm.

MRC is standard on Grand Sports.

Drive over a rough road in Tour then drive the same road in Track. If you can't tell a difference then something is wrong. Track is very stiff.

I updated the MRC calibrations in my 2015 Z06/Z07. What I noticed afterwards is the new Tour Calibrations softened the impact of the small harsh bumps that occur in the pavement. Not holes but small ripples that are the result of high temps and lots of sun exposure. Instead of feeling like my butt was being hit with a steel head hammer it felt like being hit with the same weight soft head hammer. Over large bumps you will still feel the impacts. You want a softer ride over large bumps then you have to purchase a vehicle with sufficient suspension travel to handle the bumps.

Assuming that your GS has not been lowered or otherwise modified (Are you the original owner?) the differences are easily noted. Check to make sure that the steering is linked to the mag ride setting, if it is it will be immediately apparent that the steering and suspension firm up together when going from Tour to Sport mode. I’d do the test on a stretch of pavement that is not great but not horrible either, something with some bumps and seams but some smooth as well. If the Mag Ride was malfunctioning I’d expect some sort of trouble code.

As previously noted even in Tour mode the suspension is never soft, it remains sports car firm. Going back to the C6 the two Mag Ride modes really were hard to differentiate but on the C7 I’ve found that the change in modes to be quite noticeable on most any road.

So there is a update that is charged to customers?
Is this a improvement over stock or a most recent software version?
If I have a 2019, I would assume I have the latest software since it is the last production year

Thank you all for the input

The update costs about $350 and is a programming change installed by a dealer, no new parts.

The 2019 cars come with it from the factory, the 2017 and earlier cars didn’t but can be at least partially upgraded. Our 2017 Z51 got upgraded in Tour and Sport, no upgrade was/is available for Track in our model/year.

The 2018 GS got some of the changes out of the factory but I can’t find anything from GM explaining what changes.

You can find a dealer who knows their stuff and they can tell you if an upgrade is available for your car, though it used to be that they had to actually request it for your VIN to be sure. We are very glad we got it for our car.

2019 is already as upgraded as it can get. GM basically took the 2019 suspension software and back-ported it to the 14-18 cars.

On my 2nd car with MRC ( 16 z51 pkg and now 19 GS) I can definitely tell the difference. On my 16 got the DSC controller V3 ( WiFi adjustable) that will give you total access to change all or some ....

On our '14 Stingray there is no noticeable difference between Sport and Tour modes.

If it is a base Stingray w/o Z51 and MSRC then your suspension is not adjustable....
