But no... seriously, I took the filter out, put it all back together again, drove it to work, drove it at lunch, then hit a possum on the way home.
but yes, it was getting better, throttle was smooth. Didn’t stick open at 2000 or 3000 rpm, smooth idle.
so, when I’m back on the road in January, (car will be fixed this week but not PPF back on until +30days) I’ll drive it and hope all is smooth, then add the Soler ported throttle body!
Honestly, that sounds like an air leak in the plumbing and it's screwing around with the MAF readings. If it in fact is an ECM adjustment to the new filter, that must be some special filter!
Elmer
Correct. The seal on all the pieces to the air box must be as from the factory or it will not act right. Sorry about the accident.
Yes, my guess is it wasn’t sitting right the first time I installed it. It’s a big filter with a big rubber lip... and I was doing it at night with 1 sh*tty light in my garage. The following day in the daylight it seemed much easier!
The instant you touch the tune is the end of your driveline warranty. If you mod the car AND you must tune the car to get the car to run properly, you don't care about your warranty. Changing out a filter should not require a tune on the car.

Just sayin'.

true, i do know that but i thought he said something about a throttle body upgrade
You could also get a tune for it, it may be very lean, especially if you put a different throttle body on it!
Demon, just to clarify, the OP still has the stock TB on it. When he installs our TB there won't be any leaning of the mixture, our modification is significant enough to be noticeable while at the same time it does not exceed reasonable limits of fuel trims compensation for the extra air. The oxygen sensors will detect the extra oxygen in the exhaust and tell the ECM to add fuel, it doesn't go completely by the MAF sensor alone. We have monitored this process.
We do agree that a tune has its own advantages, but you do not have to tune for our throttle bodies, and with a new car many customers don't want to tune yet.
yes I deffo don’t want to do a tune on my 2019! which is why I’m trying to do all tuneless mods.
I’m still without a car however as I’ve had several issues getting the front splitter, second attempt now and it’s not due for delivery until next Tuesday, and I leave the country 3 days after until January! nightmare month.
will be glad when I’m all sorted and new throttle body and then throttle controller fitted!
P.S Mike - what’s the eta on that?
