I know the Vararam is rarely mentioned as one of the “top two” cold air intakes, but I like the design and looks of it, so I recently installed one. The performance gains weren’t the primary concern for me. I like a clean looking engine compartment, so the main reason I wanted to add it was to get rid of the ugly stock air intake system. I also like to see the actual engine, so I generally remove cosmetic plastic.
Anyway, customer service was great. Ordered directly from Vararam and had the part 2 days later (I’m also in Texas.). The instructions are straight forward, and everything needed was in the box.
I had read accounts of how the intake improves the sounds of the engine under the hood. This absolutely and unmistakably true. The intake creates a whistle at times and allows the motor to growl really nicely under throttle.
very cool, sound wise what did it do, i know you said a bit of a whistle and growl....curious to hear your thoughts after a bit of driving...im looking at swapping some exhaust components and also adding a cai....how much did it run you?

You’ll hear the whistle near the right side of the car when you first apply the throttle mostly under mild to mid throttle. She you romp on it, the intake growl is very evident from under the hood. I’m guessing since the system doesn’t use the resonance chambers like the factor box, you get to actually hear the engine breath.
Is was $359 with free shipping.

thanks for sharing. From a performance perspective are you expecting anything and how does theirs compare to a few of the other popular ones in claimed gains? I wouldnt expect more than 10hp on a cai but with an exahust upgrade might be able to cobble together 25-30 hp which would make a slight difference.
Also since you are big on the engine look, did you have any issues with the paint pealing on the motor covers? I just bought a 17 with 5k miles on it and the paint is a mess...trying to get dealership to cover.
They make the same claims as most of the other CAI manufacturers (18 to 20 I think.). The car does seem to pull a little harder, but that could be my imagination or the very nice weather we’ve had since I installed it.
The red Corvette letters were starting to come off of my coil covers like so many others. That’s the main reason why I went ahead and removed them and the intake cover. I’ve read that some have had success in getting them replaced under warranty.
