Why would you shift at anything other than peak horsepower?

To get the best acceleration, most cars you want to shift 400 to 500 RPM above peak horsepower, so when you shift you don’t fall outside the power band.
This is dependent on what is the Redline for your set up.
There are programs on the Internet that you could look up and you put in your torque values at different rpm, your gear ratios and the rear gear in the car, and it will tell you the recommended shift points.
The shift points will be a lot higher then most would think.
I have seen this drop few tenths of a second and add a couple mile an hour in the quarter mile.

Let your ear and sotp be your guide rather than relying on electronics.
Need to list a lot more info to get a good answer...

I cringe when I see dyno operators running stuff up so high til the limiter hits, or the valves start floating.

I cringe when they shut down the run too fast and don't let me see the full curve all the way to the limiter.
