Maybe coating the bit in grease before drilling? Also, if you have small fingers maybe try using a greased finger to fish the shavings out. I am concerned about other suggestions advising the use of a vacuum to remove debris. Something about electric motors and gasoline vapors give me the creeps.

Do the grease on the drill bit from the hole you can look into the tank with one of those camera's may have to push it around to it get to see around every place. But the grease works great & you will get the plastic tank piece's on the grease..Robert
