This might not be an option on stingrays, but all the GS and Z customer cars I tune have it and I'm a little jealous. I might take a chance and try flashing my cluster and see how it goes.

Gear shows (when in drive) on Stingrays as well. I have a 16 w/Z51 (though I doubt it makes a difference) and the current gear shows. Though I don't recall the setting, you can also view whether the engine is running in 8 or 4 cylinder mode.
