Hello - Noticing postings where members are tuning out CAGS. Found a shop near me that can handle the deed. They would have to purchase a software access license for the vehicle (C7 2019 GS). One-time purchase that would only be good for only that shop’s access of my vehicle.
Question - Should I be looking at purchasing something else that will provide me direct access down the line (or other shops)? Perhaps when I know what I am doing a little better?
I'm surprised there isn't a CAGS eliminator plug in that the Corvette has. Camaro's have it so, maybe it's interchangeable to a degree? I'd look into a skip shift eliminator before I'd tune my car just for that--especially if the shop says it's specific to them only.
edit: Looks like there is. I'd opt to go with this before committing to a shop.
Sorry - should have been more clear, my bad. Looking to not use the skip shift eliminator. I know it is an easy install, and have one. Just trying not to install it.
The tuning shop will be on the hook for $200 for licensing your vehicle, and then charge you on top whatever they want to actually make the change. It will be licensed to their individual hptuners interface and the licenses are not transferable.
You could purchase your own hptuners interface for $299 and an additional $200 in license fees and be able to make this change yourself fairly quickly (or have someone use your hptuners interface to make the change).
We offer simple to use handheld tuners that will accomplish this while also offering extra power, better throttle response, and adjustability for things like tire size, rev limit, and more.
The device will grow with you should you decide to mod down the road (supports custom tuning from our CMR tuning dealers) and covers tons of vehicles in one device.
I'm sure you are aware that the tune will void your warranty. If I was going to pay for a tune, I would have them also tune to extract the safest power available.

If he uses one of our devices there is no such issue.
Thank you, I was looking into that aspect. Since I have only 1,800 miles on it so far - might change my mind and go with the plug thing in the trans. Appreciate your advice. On another topic - I installed the MGW shifter, a couple weekends ago. Interesting item - the OEM shifter would very occasionally slip out of 1st gear when the trans oil was cold. Very intermittently. With the new shifter, the problem seems to have gone away. Perhaps the alignment tool, and the tighter box is helping. Thanks again and enjoy the day.
Much like the suspension, most Corvettes that roll off the assembly line are in need of a shifter alignment as well. Luckily, it's a very easy procedure. Quality fluid helps as well.
I'll also vouch for the Diablo product; zero issues when it comes to warranty work.
Thanks for the information. I will be changing Transmission and Differential oil this week. Two questions (1) Do you have a "quality fluid" recommendation and (2) would you expand the factory suspension issue(s) a little?

You are changing the trans and diff fluids with only 1,800 miles on the car ?
Dave
I know it seems early. Hesitate to mention that I'll be changing the engine oil for the second time as well (dealership did it at 450). Thoughts are oil is inexpensive, can't hurt, and is better than watching TV. Off recommended maintenance cycle - shouldn't be any hassle doing it myself.
Also, if there are any shavings attached to the plug - that's an early warning indication. Perhaps necessitating a trip to the dealership, putting them on notice.
Here's a question - Guess the warrant is 3 yr/36,000 mi basic, 5 yr/60,000 mi powertrain. Is there a period with the C7 (e.g., first 15,000 miles), where the majority drivetrain issues occur? Thinking of when I am going to put the warranty behind me, and really get to work.
Changing the fluids early is really a waste of time , follow the schedule and u will be fine ... stop worrying and drive it .
As far as warranty is concerned , u will never put issues behind u , my motor dropped a valve at 34,000 you can imagine the ensuing carnage
Stop worrying about it and drive it like you stole it ...
