So I bought and installed the Soler TB a month or two back. Did the install right away, but wasn’t able to get the car out of hibernation until today. All I can say is “holy cow” - it really does waken the car up and improves driveability. I also bought the TC, but didn’t want to install it right away to see if I would notice a difference with the TB alone. I certainly could, and now, can’t wait to install the TC! Thanks, Mike, for providing a great product! 👍🏻
Yes, throttle bodies can be defective/fail. They incorporate a computer controlled motor which can develop problems.
As to your conclusion the Soler throttle body is not doing anything it may be an issue of expectation. These throttle bodies provide a smoother and more predictable throttle response. They also eliminate the hesitation/stumble many of us have experienced off of idle. They do not add power, or at least not enough you are going to notice, and do not add drama to the driving experience. Actually, they eliminate a bit of drama by making throttle response more predictable/controllable.
If you still have your OEM throttle body (did not have yours reworked), put it back on the car and compare. If you continue to conclude there is no difference, send the Soler throttle body back.
I installed the Soler TB and TC on my 2019 GS when it had about 600 miles on it. The difference was instantly felt. Much better throttle response than stock. Its the way the car should have been. I keep my TC on 1.9 for daily driving.
i installed the Soler Throttle Body and the Throttle controller a couple days ago. I have a 16 Z06 with a GM intake, corsa xpipe and corsa extreme exhaust.
im very satisfied with both products. I tried to keep the TC at the OE setting for the first 100 miles so I can see if I noticed a difference with the TB installed. I think I did but it was hard for me to say for sure. I couldn’t resist trying out the different setting on the TC. As for daily driving I found for me the sport settings was just too aggressive, everytime I accelerated and let my foot off the gas the engine would go into performance mode. It would be good if I was looking for some spirited street driving with other drivers. I found Comfort, CF.7 was the sweet spot for me.
i would recommend both products and good thing gas prices are down right now 😬
I have a 2015 ZO6/A8 with a few mods: DSC controller and shocks, large DeWitt radiator, bigger heat exchanger and reservoir tank, bigger trany pan, Halltech intake, long tube headers and complete B & B exhaust, Forgeline wheels, and , of course, a tune. I got the first version of the Katech TB and then the second version when it came out and have been very happy with it for the past few years.
Being a tinkerer, I decided to try Soler. I installed the TB and TC, both of which were straight forward. I felt that since the Soler and Katech were not dissimilar, I would see how the car did in self learning. I started the car, no codes, and only a slightly(maybe 100 RPM) elevated idle with virtually no roughness. Went out for an hour and a quarter ride with various acc pedal positions and the car idled in the driveway at the normal RPM, smooth as can be.
It is definitely crisper with no lag or hesitation. SP 5 is good for me for spirited driving, SP 2 or 3 or hi CF value for just around town. Katech was good, this is better. Recommend.
I have very little experience under the engine on my C7, and installed it in less than 20 mins. I just googled a couple of terms "throttle body install corvette". Found videos like this one:
I've had my Soler Throttle body and Throttle controller installed for about a year now and have been very pleased with the results. I just added an Attack Blue air filter to the setup and it really is the cherry on the top!! Now I am thrilled about the improved throttle response and improved performance!!!
