2014 C7, A6. Yesterday I went to fill up with my normal Premium and 1/2 mile from the gas station heard some distinct knocking followed by stalling out within seconds. I was able to get it into a parking lot (with a little pushing) and attempted a restart. Engine was trying, but as if not getting fuel. Not CEL or any other indications, but code reader showed a P0324 Knock sensor issue. Until the tow truck got there, I just did a cursory check of fuel pump and relay fuses; no issues. Got the car to the Chevy dealer and they said they would get to it as soon as they could.
I got a call yesterday evening saying they would get to it the next day (today), but that they had started it and pulled it into the bay. This morning I got indications on my code reader (that was still plugged in) that they had started it again and then multiple more codes in addition to the original P0324 - P0300 (Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected), P0326 (Knock Sensore 1 Circuit Range/Performance), P0331 (Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Range/Performance). I also got a text from the service tech that they found a "smashed" spark plug in cylinder 6 and were running a borescope in the cylinder to see what's up.
If they got the car to start, I can imagine it was running pretty darn rough, and even driving it a few hundred feet into the bay in that condition would likely cause some further issues. The original stall and conditions were clearly not caused by one bad cylinder, but I can imagine the original condition would cause the issue with the cylinder.
The question now is how they will spin this to me in the next few hours. In the mean time, anyone had a similar issue? I have over 100K miles on my baby, and am very attuned to it's nuances. I do all the work myself (it hasn't required much at all), and it was running fantastic up to the point this happened. No prior indications.
Update - dealer called and said there is a hole in the cylinder and major scoring. Providing a quote for a new engine. Uhhhhh, that is NOT what caused the stall yesterday.

Unfortunately it sounds like the consequential damage of what you experienced. Is the car still under its powertrain warranty or have an extended warranty?
crap.. sorry to hear. I have been there before where a tuner screwed up even with me telling him water was coming out of the TB(meth install) and the *** kept trying to "tune" it out and it blew. He left me out to dry..
No tune no mods? Not sure what legal recourse if any. They have to get it in the shop to test but I'm sure no one know it was that bad...
I seriously would drive it a while and not get anything done. I doubt they will hurt it doing a compression test but I also don't think it will help anything other than you peace of mind. If it did damage it will show up long before the warranty is out. They could very well screw something up while they check it and you'd never know.
