Fellow car Nuts,

My C7 GS was dynoed yesterday at Lingenfelter with their GT32 cam and ported heads, a MSD manifold with a ported 87 TB, along with a host of supporting parts. On their dyno it made 554/468 at the wheels running on 93 octane. Happy :-)

Dirk Stratton of Stratton Chevrolet in Beloit OH, did all of the assembly work. Dirk competes in Formula Drift, and is sponsored by Lingenfelter.

The car should be a strong runner for sure.

My question is, how does it feel, compared to when it was stock, in terms of off idle and mild street use? How has driveability changed? Is it still torquey off the line, and how is cruising now?

Good morning,

I will have to get back to you on this, as I still have to go pick up the vehicle.

How did this compare to Bolt-on supercharger and Tune performance and cost-wise and did you consider both and what made you chose this mod option vs supercharger out of curiosity?

Regarding a supercharger: A supercharger is likely going to be much cheaper depending on what all you might do. However, I did NOT want too much bottom end as it is nearly impossible to autox a C7 Z06 with it having so much on tap, when ever you press on the peddle. I also want to occasionally track my car, and this holds true on track as well. Additionally, there are volumes of people with over heating issues with Z06's on track, and several class action law suits etc for over heating. If you just want to play with it on the street, then a supercharger might be right for you.

I did not consider a Z06 when I bought my GS for these reasons. NOT knocking a Z06, this was just my thinking.

How does it feel: Feedback is after (2) 15-20 drive into a small town and around the county court house, a few stop lights, etc and then out of town and foot planting on a deserted section of blacktop up thru 3rd (4) separate times. Honestly, it is not much of an issue, you just can't bog it down like we can with the factory cam. It is a high performance cam after all.

Idle is addicting, and most certainly know this is NOT stock, therapy 101. I has a rrrRumppp… rrrRumppp… rrrRumppp… on a 'cold' start for 10 -15 seconds until it settles into an aggressive idle about 900 RPM. Again, it is addicting and I have been on the planet north of half a century. Trying to use the right words here and not have something pulled out of context regarding mild street use. It is very easy to drive and not much of a difference, other than lugging it at low speeds might induce a 'slight' buck, but it really isn't an issues, just drop down a gear.

Cruising: Is same as stock and I did a real quick 5 mile fuel average and saw 26 +. This is NOT a real test, but it seemed ok by using a quick average... I was doing 60 in 7th and it was the same as stock in regards to driving manners.

OK: Rolling out and nailing it with traction control off, seemed very close to what stock was like from a seat of the pants perspective(YES torquey for SURE) . That is until you get to 4500-5000 (somewhere in that area) and up thru 7000. I actually shifted all but once at about 6500 ish, but I hit the limiter at 7 (yes it is moved up a bit) once as it pulls so fast thru the rpm in lower gears. It broke the 200 tread wear tires loose (70 degrees out) about 4500 to 5000 ish, but OMG does it pull HARD from about 4500 to 6500+, REALLY!!! I think the bottom end is about the same, but hope to do a few pulls with friends who have the same car when I get a chance one day... Not that the stock motor is lacking, but you can tell it flattens out about 5500 or so where this package is pulling like a freight train. There is NO doubt that is has MORE power :-)

Hope this helps...

Bruce
