Okay Corvette Pros:
I went to start my '14 Z51 7MT Conv and it didn't read the fob, I tried the 2nd fob, the same. Tried inserting them into the slot to be recognized. Nothing. Well went and got batteries and replaced both. #1 fob, fine, works great, backup fob, zilch. Opened #2 fob again and this time I broke something because the piece that held the key in no longer did. Checked all else, nothing. Yes I did use a little jeweler's screwdriver to get the battery out (after reading "do not use metal to get battery out", yep I'm a mechanical wiz), checked it, tried all procedures again and.....nothing.
Therefore I believe I need to buy a new #2 fob. Is there a good place, pricewise to buy one (on line) and what will the dealer charge me to reprogram it? Thanks in advance for helping me out....

Try the "bad" fob in the slot in the steering wheel before you declare it dead. If it worked before, my bet is you got a bad battery. The fobs really need new, fresh batteries.
