Broke an axle at the drag strip today. I’ll eventually get stronger aftermarket axles but just looking to buy a used stock one for now. I’m just wondering if all C7 use the same ones, stingray,Zo6, auto?? Thanks

You broke a soft part and less expensive than a diff. The safety fuse 😃
I believe they are all the same. I was thinking about this a few weeks ago on the way driving to the track

What power level are you at ?
What size rear rims\tires are you using ?
The axles are usually a different length, at least they were on my Camaro so I'm pretty sure its the same on the Vet. Did dead hook or was it wheel hopping when it broke?

On a sticky track I wouldn't consider launch control. Thats probably better on the street. Probably nobody on the Camaro and Corvette forum have made 275 passes down the track between my my Camaro and Corvette but I don't think I've ever tried launch control a the track. When you use that it pulls timing and really kills the power. I don't know that much about the rear tire your running but if you going to drag race more you should run a drag radial that you can drive to the track like what I've got on my which is the Nitto 555r2s on a 19" wheel. I driven it to the track 3 different times which is 330 miles round trip. Got caught in the rain last weekend and they did really well. I just bought an extra set of Chrome 19s and swap them right before I head out, 30 psi for the drive and 20 psi for the track. Love them.
Thx.
I am trying to find a 17" rim for ET Streets to absorb some of the launch shock. The 20's just have no sidewall.
I ended up just going 18” with a 315 Hoosier. Now, after adding the 4000 stall converter I’m thinking the MT R’s are the way to go. Best 60’ was a 1.50 a few weeks back spinning. The Hoosier’s are shot but I still think they won’t hook with the added power and converter even if new. Maybe on a really good prepped track. I’m looking at adjustable rear sway bar and rear drag alignment next
I just don’t want to go over a 27” tall tire
Ordered an OEM axle online for $193. Seems to be the same axle part # for all C7s, auto, manual, left or right side. Stingray, Z51, Zo6, Grand Sport, Zr1
GM part # 84228346

Good deal and you'll be able to get it back on the road for more fun. You should probably consider some DSS axles this winter especially if you want to add more power.

I am not sure of all the hype about launch control pulling so much power .... i run my LT1 extensively and log every run
I can pop off a 1.7 1.8 60 ft time consistently with my 20 inch run flats at 24 pounds .
Turning LC off and there is a fine line between a 1.8 and blowing the tires off of it . I don't think anyone is getting a better sixty with stock tires ......
If I was using Drag radials then maybe
OP sorry to hear about your axle but as it was said above , I rather it be an axle then blow the rear
Dave
Thx.

That was my thought process also but when with 275/60/15 and still snapped the axle. They were aired down to 16psi, it went out about 30 feet and snapped. No wheel hop but it felt like it was going to be a 1.4 60'. I replaced the axle and my new launch was 2.4 seconds. Haha talk about gun shy. I did get that down to 1.7 on my next run.
This winter I'm doing DSS axles and upgrading the rear with 4 spider gears.
