Default Axle back VS cat back.

Other than my motorcycles I've never replaced an exhaust system with anything other than what came on it new. So with that in mind are they asking the lines of a slip on in the bike world with the cat back marginally better in the case of where there are multiple catalytic converters such as the C7?

Additionally, do either require anything further with the ECM? If not, is there reason to do anything with it?

Lastly, in the past with my bikes I always did exhaust, air intake and ECM even though all I really wanted was better sound while having the car run as it should - as is my case with my C7.

I guess what I want is better sound at idle as well as while driving without being obnoxious. What I don't want (or at least know what I'm getting into if it does) is to do the exhaust and then have to address several things that resulted by having dinner the exhaust - if that's even possible.

I have AFM with no NPP. I'm not there original owner but it's my belief that my 2015 with 15k is still completely stock.

I'm considering this but not for any reason other than I understand it to have little to no drone and I like the sound, I think - I've heard it online but not in person. So, if I'm going about this wrong or missing something please feel free to educate me.
Amazon Amazon
(as much as I hate to go Amazon they are not only the cheapest but free shipping too)

I appreciate everyone and look forward to hearing back.

I started with just the xpipe first. I still like the valves on the stock mufflers. Mild exhaust change note at idle, noticeable change at full throttle. Aftermarket xpipe deletes the last 2 cats which are not monitored. No tuning requirements.

I have an AWE x-pipe with ARH mid-length headers with cats and seems to be a good spot for me.

I have a Borla cat-back S-type on order - should be here midweek although it'll likely not be installed until closer to the upcoming summer.

I'm still up in the air as to whether I'm going to attempt the install (along with a splitter and side rails) myself or look for someone local.

I should have my Borla s-type axle back in about 3 weeks. I hear the sound is awesome. A lot of people say its not quite loud enough so I ordered the Corsa Double Helix xpipe too. Since Borla doesn't make the xpipe that deletes the secondary cats. I cant wait, lol. Should be badass but NOT to loud. I don't want to be THAT GUY lol. I found a performance shop here in Slidell LA. The old man has been there for 34 years, and has 9vettes himself. He's only charging me $200, I couldn't believe it, what a deal. I will give him a nice tip too. But after I get it installed, I will post a video. I'm like a kid at Christmas, can't wait, lmao

I have a 2016 Z51 and I have the Borla ATAK with 0 Drone issues.
I have recently added the X Pipe along with the Mild 2 Wild Controller and I love it.
Its crazy to start it from a distance to get people to turn around and see what it was. It's not too loud but yet added more than the Stock.
Its also not too obnoxious as a lot of the Mustangs you hear out there.
