Default How to remove A8 shift lever?

I'm trying to gain access under the shifter/console panel. The "How-to" for the M7 shifter replacement has all the great info for everything before and after removing the shift lever, but it doesn't seem to work for the A8 shift lever itself. I'm sure it's fairly simple, but it's smarter to ask questions than to break parts out of ignorance.
TIA for any help.

Hoxxy, see the attached. I think this is what you were asking about? You can either PM me, email me, or call if you need anything else.

Just so others can see your response, I'll try to further define the question.

I only need to gain access to the underside of the front panel of the console. I can remove the console door, pop off the left side retainer, remove the triangular cover near the front side, and start to lift the lift the cover, but I can't completely remove the cover without taking off the shift lever ****, since the **** is larger than the hole in the flexible boot.

The procedure for the M7 shift **** removal,(in the above How-to: sticky) doesn't seem to apply for the A8 shifter.

With what you posted, I'm guessing the item #3 "Front Floor Lower Console Replacement" will have that information.

I should have purchased the service manuals the same day I bought the car, Strangely, Helm doesn't offer online purchases of service manuals, so I'll have to call them tomorrow.

Wow, that's so simple that it makes me wonder if GM actually did the design.
Many thanks for your help.
