A few days ago, I was driving my '16 in town when a moderately-loud rattling noise coming from the engine/dashboard area. It went away, and I made it to my destination with no issues.
On my way home, the check engine light illuminated. I turned the car on this morning to see if the problem (hopefully) magically went away and it did not.
I plan on taking the car in this week for a diagnosis/repair. Until then, any ideas? Has anyone else had something similar happen? FYI, the car seems to run normally and there are no other symptoms that I have been able to detect.
Go to any of the chain auto parts stores close to you (autozone, pepboys, etc.). They all have code readers and will give you the fault code for free. Google the code to see what the issue is.
A little background here: I had the triple flush for the A8 done about three months ago based on the most current TSB for the shuddering. It made a significant difference in how the car feels while driving.
I took the car to the dealership for diagnosis. About an hour or two after I dropped it, the service advisor informed me that the check engine light was caused by a Transmission fault, but was not sure of the specifics. Assured me that because I am still under powertrain warranty AND that I just had the car in for the TSB triple flush so recently, it would not cost me anything. I thought that was a nice thing to say.
I received another call and was told that the car should be finished tomorrow, and the fault had something to do with an electronic component in the transmission failing. The advisor did speculate that the component may have failed as a result of the flush.
Once I pick up the car and review the invoice for the diagnosis/component I will post an update!
