Default auto-dimming rear view mirror schematics?

Greetings,

Does anyone have the schematics for an auto-dimming mirror? I'm thinking of trying to disable the onstar buttons and lights, but would keep the auto-dimming if possible. An actual wiring diagram would be a real time saver :-)

Thanks,
Rusty

I have a 2014 and there may be differences with later years. If you remove Fuse 26 from the front fuse block you will disable both features. There was write up I found on CF last year that mentioned getting into the mirror wiring to accomplish what you want. However that procedure exceeded what I wanted to do which was to eliminate both annoyances.

Thanks, but it looks like Fuse 26 would kill power to the whole mirror, which isn't going to work for me. I plan to use the mirror power for a radar detector, and I'd rather the auto-dimming feature still work. Simply unplugging the mirror would leave me with power, but no auto-dimming. I'm hoping someone has an electrical drawing for the morror connector that they can share.

I cant help you with your Q... But if its the lights that bother you, there are little stickers designed to block led light.

I should own stock in LightDims for as many as I use. I'm hoping for a better solution.

Why don't you take out the onstar module if you want to disable onstar functionality? I don't remember where it is. If just the lights annoy you blocking them is the easiest solution. BTW screwing around with the mirror connector is a real PITA due to it's location and compactness. Installing a radar detector tap is not so bad since you are just inserting a tap into the rear of the connector.

Replace the whole thing with a base model Camaro mirror. It doesn't have OnStar buttons at all. Looks a lot cleaner.

I saw that Camaro mirror thread when I was searching, but didn't really see that anyone confirmed it would fit. I also don't know if there would be room to hide the connector. I do want power for my radar detector, and wouldn't want to modify the wiring on the car, which includes removing any of the onstar crap. I don't mind messing with the mirror though. I have to replace the mirror one way or another, and I'm totally familiar with how horrible it is to work in that location. Definitely not looking forward to it. Hoping I can do most of the wiring mods on the bench.

Auto dim mirror - CorvetteForum - Chevrolet Corvette Forum Discussion

See post#8 in the above link for the mirror schematic.
Try to disconnect pin #3 and pin #4 to kill the OnStar lights.

Thanks for the link. Hard to tell if 3 and 4 are going in, or coming out. I'm an electronics guy, and these block diagram type drawings just drive me crazy... Worst case, someone just offered me a 1LT manual mirror, which makes things easy, but I'll likely peek inside the auto-dim mirror and see if I find an obvious solution.

The mirror fits. I'm running a 2019 Camaro camera mirror in my C7. The mount is exactly the same.

Since you said you were going to install a Radar Detector you might consider getting a Blu Mount mounting fixture. This places the radar detector directly under the mirror and you won't notice the mirror lights at all.
The only time I ever am even aware of the on star lights or buttons is if I accidentally hit a button while adjusting the mirror.
