replaced rear diff fluid, everyone says it holds 3 gts and will start coming out once all 3 are in, i pumped in 3 quarts and never started coming back out, would you buy another qt and put in just little more until it comes out the fill, or is it sufficient with what i did. only 2 qts of old oil came out

I really don't know how much trouble it is to change or add the rear differential fluid to the car, I have not replaced mine yet but plan to before summer. If it is an easy process to add a little more fluid to it, I would probably pick up another quart and add some. I always liked to see a little fluid coming out before I replaced the plug. But if it is a pain or aggravating job to do, probably what you did will be sufficient. You know you drained two quarts and added three quarts so you have to be better off than you were. I would bet it is just barely below the filling hole.
I would fill it till its full or you can feel it with you pinky. It's probably very close right now.
I agree it takes just a little over that, I just started putting in one good pump on the 4th & it started coming out.. But I also use a small bottle of add to it also. Robert

Depending on how you have the car jacked up it may take/drain a bit more or a bit less then 3 qts. Either way it isn't a big deal. Just add it until some comes out the fill hole

That's a good point. If the car is jacked up just in the rear then the fluid will naturally move toward the front of the car and away from the fill hole. This would have the perception of not being full when it really is it the car was level. If it's on a lift then it's as level as it can be and just needs a little more fluid.
I’m sorry to read this. Going for an oil change and now you have a major problem. You will read lots of advise and opinions on this site. Some people will sympathize with you, and others will tell you you might have not done the right thing.
It hurts when you have a problem and try to figure out how to get it resolved. Your problem won’t be solved over night. It will take time. You will get this problem taken care of. Hopefully it doesn’t cost you a lot of money.
