I have a Schumacher automatic battery charger that I use for my wife's car. Since I have it, I don't see a need to buy the Chevy trickle charger. With this Schumacher, the manual says the ground cable needs to be connected to the car's chassis. Is the positive(=) grounded or the negative (-) on the C7? With location being in the rear passenger side corner of the car finding a chassis connection for the charger's ground clip to connect to will be a challenge.
Black is Ground, Red is Positive. Connect to the battery posts accordingly. Positive clip to Red, Black clip to negative post on Battery. Unless your charger is somehow different it should be connected that way. YMMV...

If you are using the trunk then connect directly to the battery, otherwise as said if you use the spot under the hood there is a remote + connection on the fuse block (side closest to the firewall) and you can use the bolt on the alternator as the -.
