Saw a thread in the C6 section about a fuse option to prevent the 1-4 skip. Does this mod work for a C7? Mostly just curious since I'm planning to install a CAGS bypass plug anyway. Is it really necessary to disconnect the neg battery terminal for installation?
You can train yourself to avoid the skip shift. Skip Shift is only activated if you are driving slowly at low throttle input between the speeds of 15 to 19 mph. Either shift to second before 14 mph or after 19 mph or use more throttle input. Usually, it occurs when you are driving in traffic with a slow vehicle immediately in front of you. Save the $20 a skip shift costs and use it to pay for gas or a couple of beers. This is the same way to defeat it on the late C4s, C5s and C6s.
Had a gen 4 Camaro that was way more intrusive. No problem driving the car around the skip parameters but it's just a pia when driving in traffic. Worth the $20 to me.
That was the first thing I did to my 19 base. Yeah, maybe one can train one's self to drive around it, but to me it's just not worth the trouble. I was nearly rear ended in traffic when it was moving slowly coming out of a parking lot and then they all started to go. My Stingray doesn't accelerate worth a s--t in 4th gear at 1000rpm. I ordered about 5 minutes after getting home.
Spend the $20 for the CAGS defeat and never even think about it again....
cheap and easy... DONE.

Unless your stuck in traffic. Or like @CraigStu said for some reason you are forced to drive slower then desired. Happens often to me in various daily driving situations.
I bought an manual because I know which gear I want / need to be in I don't need some silly computer forcing me into 4th
Just spend the $20. Takes longer to lift the car than it does to plug in the chip. FYI, you still get the message on the screen that you are skipping gears but it does not actually skip them. My second mod right after pulling the fuse for the exhaust!
You can shut it off permanently in HP Tuners without having to add an external piece of hardware.
This makes sense, if you intend to tune beyond CAGS (i.e., for performance purposes) and you're out of warranty (or don't care about the warranty). Otherwise, why would anyone spend $500 (MPVI2 + Credits) and void their warranty just to turn off CAGS?
Just installed a skipshift elmin and on my first drive I got the message 3 or 4 times but got into 2nd gear finally every time, worth the effort. I was installing exhaust at the same time so worked out great.
