Default Need Some Advise On Engine Upgrade

I have a 2014 Z51 MT, with just shy of 14k. I recently had a valve failure where #2 exhaust valve broke high just above the the guide with no damage to the piston but the guide is out of limit on the top side and past half worn on the others. I'm considering on maybe installing a mild street cam and upgrading the heads. What recommendation are out there? I want it to be driver friendly.

Get you a full set of good valves, New valve job, get a new cam Kit from www.briantooleyracing & get those crap out of the motor on lifters also, the cam kit will do that go with a stage II cam kit from them. The heads flow good for a non blower engine, Just these lifters & valves are the weak point also the springs also for high rev motor. Stock head gaskets with a set of ARP head bolts. Robert

These cam kits requires the elimination of dod/afm?

Do they have to take the motor out to do a cam? I'd do a cam for sure if they are in the motor.

Not all cams you have to have the DOD removed, But that cam will be so very little in rwhp gain, Plus those crazy lifter are a weak point in these cars, if you run her to hard at higher RPM, BTR racing has a small cam that you can get & still keep the DOD in the car. But if me I wouldnt get a cam if I was only going that small. ALSO here you can get a good size cam and make it drive like a daily driver,,, IT ALL IS IN THE TUNE OF IT. GET A GOOD TUNER. Robert

Hi Robert,
Cam swap is out for now, Going to wait till next year, when I can pull the engine and do it right and forge the lower end while I'm at it. I need to get a solid game plan together, have to read more. I also need to find me a tuner. I live in North Central Florida, Tuners are scarce. Meanwhile, I want to upgrade the heads, valves, replace lifter and push rods. Any recommendation on these parts? Would you recommend bronze valve guides?

Are you looking to do this yourself and then have it tuned? If it were me and you were to do it yourself I would buy the entire cam kit, DOD delete kit, and heads from Vengance (just a few hours north of you). Or if you want a turn key build take the car to them.

I've talked to them, They have some nice stuff. I wanted to drop in a cam, but was not aware the oil pan need to be dropped to removed the oil pump. That's an engine removal. I don't want to pull the engine now as I don't have the space in the shop. I'm going to wait on a cam for now and concentrate on getting the heads, valves train in order.
